Tape Application Tool

Description

Tool used for thread seal tape application.  Includes adjustable tape tension and tape cutting mechanisms.  Adjustable tape cutter.  Made out of marine grade plywood with oil finish.  Ready to use right out of box.
*Includes USA made roll of thread seal tape.
----Operating Instructions----
1.  Attach or clamp Tape Applicator Tool (TAT) to a solid work surface.
2.  Check tape tension.  If more tension is desired, loosen tension clamp(3) and compress spring (shorten 4) until desired tension is  achieved.  If less tension is desired, decompress spring (lengthen 4) until desired tension is achieved.
3.  To begin taping process, thread tape (5) through opening in tape cutter (7) long enough to make 1 wrap around connection being taped.  While holding tape to connection, turn connection in desired rotation until desired amount of tape is applied to  the connection.
4.  To cut tape, slide taped connection under the tape cutter blade and raise the tape with a slicing action to cut the tape.
5.  When a new roll of tape is needed, loosen tension clamp (3) and relieve all tension from spring assembly (4).  Remove tape retainer (6) from axle (2), slide off empty tape roll (5) and slide on new tape roll.  Insert tape retainer (6) and set tension as described in step No. 2.
*Before loosening tension clamp (3), using a pencil or marker, make a witness mark on axle (2) so that the previous tension setting can be duplicated.
6.  An 1 1/4" tape adapter (8) is included to be used with black electrical type tape.  Insert adapter (8) into center of tape roll and follow instructions from step No. 5 to install on TAT.  Make sure that the raised section of adapter (8) is against tape retainer (6).
7. Tape can be applied from both sides of TAT by simply removing the 2 screws from the tape cutter (7) and installing the tape cutter on the opposite side using the provided holes in the main body (1).  This allows the user to apply tape from a more convenient position.
